Heather Everitt, artist and embroiderer

Hello & welcome to my world!

I create exquisite machine & commercial embroidery.

My interest in embroidery started at an early age with my wonderful Granny Mary, who introduced me to the joy of French knots. I come from a family of sheep farmers, with a court dressmaker in the mix, and parents who met at a textile mill so I believe fibres are in my bloodstream.

I graduated with an Honours degree in Embroidery from Manchester University and after a period of primary school teaching, 17 years! I started Heather Everitt Embroidery, full time in 2002.

The business is now in wonderful purpose built premises; combining fine art, bespoke and commercial embroidery elements in one place.

Here, alongside a purpose built studio is a large room for classes where I can’t wait to share all aspects of embroidery with you!

Craftsmanship & design.

  • My love of textiles started with my Granny Mary, teaching me how to sew at an early age. Clothes for my dolls being an important project. I went on to study for a degree in Embroidery, three fantastic years learning from top practitioners.

  • Drawing and painting feeds everything I create. The natural world is my inspiration. I adore colour, especially when reflected in the richness of silk and Liberty of London prints. Threads, beads and sequins delight me, making me long to create.
Perfection drives me, I approach a piece of embroidery like a painting adding detail, working out composition, negative and positive space, contrast and accent.

  • For the future, with the addition of a purpose built studio, workshop and classroom, I am excited to share my embroidery journey. It’s a world that inspires and enriches. I hope that either by attending a class, commissioning or purchasing a piece you can love it as much as I do.
